The easy way of doing this is by going into your hard drive and right clicking on your DMS Plant folder and click on copy and then pasting that folder onto a thumb drive and then pasting that onto your new computer. This will be sufficient if only you don’t have any sound files or images attached to any information within this plant folder. But, what if you do have sound files and images within this plant of yours?
What you need to do first is to bring the plant that you want to copy up on your Ultratrend DMS 5. Once you have your plant on your program, you will need to highlight your plant name and then go to your file tab and click on “Save a Copy of Plant”. A box will pop-up on your screen telling the plant name that you want to copy. Underneath you will see another box called “DMS Plants Folder.” Here it will tell you where the plant is located on the original computer. Just to the right of that, you will see a browse folder. Click on the browse folder and you will then have to tell Ultratrend DMS 5 where to save this plant to.
Example: If I have a thumb drive and it is located on the E: drive on my old computer, I will need to highlight that E: drive and then click “OK.”
Once you click “OK,” DMS 5 will then start copying that plant onto that thumb drive, along with all the sound files and images that are attached to that plant. Once it has copied that plant you can then remove the thumb drive and place it onto your new computer. When you place the thumb drive into your new computer, you can then copy that plant and paste it into your new DMS Plant folder (you will need to have Ultratrend DMS 5 on that new computer of course.)
If you have more plants, you will need to do this process again for every plant that you have.Stan Hewlett
