The next generation...

While watching the news the other night a story about an engineering program at a local high school really caught my attention.  The report was about a special course they offer called GE2 (Girls Exploring Engineering), which, as you might have guessed, introduces young women to engineering concepts and the principles of systems engineering.  The program has been around for a few years now and has seen nearly 80% of the graduates entering into engineering programs throughout the country, from MIT to Carnegie Mellon, Rochester Institute of Technology to Virginia Tech (go Hokies!).  These bright young girls are paving the way for a new generation of engineers.

UE Systems is proud to be participating with SMRP, at the upcoming
US Scienceand Engineering Festival taking place in Washington, DC.  The mission of this festival is to get our nation’s youth excited about careers in science and engineering.  With the aging workforce, it’s critical that we all work hard to ensure we have the brightest, and most diverse, minds to bring new solutions and new perspectives to what we do.

What is your organization doing to encourage young people to explore a career in manufacturing, engineering or technology? We’d love to know so we can feature your efforts for others to learn from. Email

  1. I am very happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that's at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best posting.
